The Right Place at the Right Time.
It doesn’t always happen, but when it does, it’s like MAGIC!
Last night I was working one of my wonky part time jobs, and the client we had works for a company that builds apps! I was so intrigued with what he does, and it led to a conversation about an app I want to develop.
He offered to sit down with me to figure out what we could create together.
Had I not been working this crazy part time job, I probably never would have run into him, and wouldn’t be so stoked to get going on this project that I’ve had in the back of my mind.
You never know what might happen.
There’s an old saying: If you don’t ask, the answer will always be NO.
Asking for what you really want can be scary. What if people reject you, judge you, laugh at you, or worse, what if you fail?
The bigger problem that I see is what happens if you never try? Will you regret it at the end of your life? Will you be wishing you could travel back in time and give more encouragement to your younger self?
Whenever I’m faced with a hard problem or decision, I always ask myself: Will I regret not doing this?
If the thing I want doesn’t kill me or hurt anyone else, I usually figure out a way to make it happen.
Some people weigh the cost, risk, etc and those can all be valid if you have a lot at stake. But regret is more expensive than anything that can be bought.
Think about your biggest regret. What is it that you’d wish you’d done? Why did you make the decision you did? If you could go back and do it over again, would you?
I’ve made a few decisions that cost me my credibility with banks, and made homeownership a bigger challenge than it had to be. But I don’t regret it. The results and consequences of my choices made be more creative, and gave me the opportunity to reevaluate what was important in my life.
If I travelled back in time, I’d change nothing.
I’ve made decisions that to everyone else seemed crazy and impulsive, but to me, it felt normal and the next logical step. Everything worked out for my benefit, and more doors opened to me once I let go of what wasn’t working.
Sometimes you need to say no thank you or even goodbye to things, people, opportunities and choices that won’t serve you in the long run.
Deciding to sell a chunk of my stained glass supplies last fall and stop teaching for a while was a hard decision, but worked out better for me. I opened up new avenues that were not an option while I held onto all the stuff.
Being at the right place at the right time is a sign from the Universe for me. Often when I’m pondering about something, all of a sudden an opportunity that seems too good to be true, but isn’t pops up and blows me away!
I have incredible motivation and inspiration when this happens. Almost as if anything is possible and no amount of negativity can tear me down.
The key to making the magic come alive in these moments is Taking Action!
Finding this guy that can help me build the most amazing app is useless unless I contact him and set up a meeting. If I let too much time pass, life gets in the way. Little distractions pop up, and it gets pushed further down the to-do list.
Don’t let that happen! Take Action on it NOW! Don’t ask a bunch of people what they think, or get lost in researching it or trying to figure out all the steps.
Sometimes you just have to jump in with both feet and figure it out as you go!
No plans and being adaptable are what I’m known for. It drives people in my life crazy, until my flexibility and wicked problem solving skills come to their rescue.
I’m ok with being the weirdo.
Cool solutions seem to appear when I need them the most, and I am grateful!
So here I go, and I’m cutting this off now so I can contact my app guy!
I hope you have an inspired day!
